Carol Bowie, RiskMetrics

Carol Bowie leads the Governance Institute for RiskMetrics Group’s ISS Governance Services unit. The Center for Corporate Governance is dedicated to offering timely and insightful information, reports and studies around key corporate governance issues. Previously, Bowie headed the Governance Research Services team, where she oversaw the compilation and analysis of non-recommendation proxy-based information for more than 10,000 U.S. and global companies annually. Prior to RiskMetrics Group, Bowie was head of the governance research unit at Investor Responsibility Research Center (IRRC), providing proxy voting research and guidance to investors worldwide. Before joining IRRC in 2001, she was Director of Publications & Research for Executive Compensation Advisory Services and long-time managing editor of the Executive Compensation Reports newsletter, reporting on trends and developments in executive pay at public companies.

Bowie is a frequent speaker on a range of governance issues. Her articles have been published in several journals, including Mergers & Acquisitions and Directors' Monthly. She is quoted regularly in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Business Week, The New York Times, and USA Today, and she has provided commentary on CNN, CNBC, CNET, MSNBC, and public television and radio.
